University of Denver’s Frederick S. Pardee Institute
Improving Human Well-Being
Challenge
Eighty2degrees was asked to design the University of Denver’s Josef Korbel School of International Studies Frederick S. Pardee Institute for International Futures annual review for the fifth year. The report showcases the Pardee Institute's research projects on the interaction of human, social, and physical systems to improve sustainable human development globally. This year's review also marked the first year Pardee was recognized as a DU Institute—one of just six organized research units across the University of Denver.
Approach
Building on the University of Denver's branding as the framework, the review was organized into sections that showcased the students, the research, and the breadth of Pardee's presence around the globe. After the success of the previous two years' illustrative covers, we again partnered with illustrator Chris Gash to create a unique, conceptual illustration. The illustration depicted a "many parts one whole" concept through a quilt motif. In the interior of the review, we continued with quilt-like shapes, a flexible grid for the Institute's varied content, and prioritized human-centric photography to highlight Pardee students, faculty, scholars, and events.
