Capital Area Food Bank

Reporting on Successes & Challenges of Ending Hunger

Challenge

For the last four years, Eighty2degrees has designed the Capital Area Food Bank’s (CAFB) annual report, highlighting CAFB’s success, response, and adaptation to food insecurity before, during, and after the COVID-19 pandemic. The report is frequently used in fundraising efforts to help make a case for why contributing to CAFB is more important than ever amid inflation and the rollback of pandemic-era government assistance programs. Using the previous year's design as a jumping-off point, we were tasked with designing a "similar but different" report each year.

Approach

Since the report is digital-only, we chose a horizontal format to maximize the viewable layout space on a reader’s computer screen. The reports contain program highlights, client stories, and illustration-based infographics which highlight key statistics on CAFB’s research, programs, and accomplishments. Photography and illustrations from its brand toolkit are incorporated to visually illustrate CAFB’s important work towards ending hunger in the Washington DC-Maryland-Virginia area.
