Inspiring Sustainability

Challenge

Design the 2017 Sustainable DC progress report to show movement by the city and its residents on a 20-year plan in an approachable and creative way. We needed to create a cohesive look that continued the series of reports from the previous three years, but also brought a fresh look for a new year with new points of progress.

Approach

Our custom illustrations and succinct copy highlight data and progress for 143 actions and 31 targets for issues like jobs, health, diversity, food, and transportation. While we maintained a similar grid-like design for the cover reminiscent of previous years, we simplified the color palette and graphical elements to make key information easy and quick to consume for a more engaging experience for the reader.

I was so impressed with Eighty2degrees' eye for style, ability to fit a HUGE amount of information into beautiful clear graphics, and their ability to both take feedback, respect boundaries, and push what was best for the message.
