Challenge

Among the essential offerings of the Council on Foundations (COF) are its annual conference and four supplementary boutique convenings: the HR Summit, Endowments & Finance Summit, CEO & Trustee Retreat, and Public Policy Summit. The COF asked Eighty2degrees to design a cohesive brand experience for all of these events, with each event having its own signature logo and distinguishing look for its respective gathering. While the series needed to convey cohesiveness, it was also important for each one to portray the unique, innovative, and supportive environments that these events offer to the COF community of foundation professionals and philanthropists.

Approach

To ensure a clear relationship between all of the events, while illustrating their distinct purposes, we created a foundational mark consisting of four hexagons, each filled with a different colored geometric figure pattern. Together, the logos represent the building blocks of an organization, and in another configuration, they interlock to represent collaboration and engagement. The brightly colored sub-brands for each event play well together visually, but can also stand alone, either on white or solid backgrounds or even as a photographic overlay. A robust brand guide was also created to define multiple uses across print and digital collateral.
