Capital Area Food Bank

Visuals for Volunteers

Challenge

The Capital Area Food Bank wanted to create more inspiring spaces for their volunteers to show the impact of their contributions. The goal was to help volunteers feel that they were part of the solution, and demonstrate how their volunteer work fits into the larger landscape of CAFB operations. Without volunteers, the food bank would not be able to fight hunger in the region, and they wanted to make every volunteer feel welcomed, valued, and motivated.

Approach

We designed signage for all the volunteer touchpoints within the food bank's warehouse, including large hanging banners for dry racks, a bold and energetic backdrop for the room where volunteers packed food, and beautiful graphics for the volunteer break room. We transformed the break room's popular photo-op wall into a captivating mural with illustrations depicting different facets of CAFB's work. We also created dimensional signage that highlighted key partners, staff, volunteers, and donors, which could be refreshed periodically with new profiles. A large, warm "thank you" wall completed the space, letting volunteers know how much their efforts were appreciated by CAFB and the greater community.
